Why is audio crucial for the horror genre? I'll give you a few hints. We hear faster than we see and fear what we cannot see. What happens when we hear something familiar but not quite right? Fear is a primal instinct that has ensured our survival, and our job as sound designers and composers is to take advantage of that. It's a balancing act between silence & nonlinear sounds or suspense & resolution. 

 

For this project, I re-created the audio elements of The Nun's teaser trailer. Foley plays a vital role here, even if it's subtle. The focal points are sound design, composition, and foley, so there are no vocal overdubs. I dare you to listen and see if the audio is immersive enough to instill fear!
